The Carrot, The Egg and the Coffee Bean: Stirring the Pot of Leadership Styles
Glenn Brûlé, ESI International

Glenn Brule.3Let’s face it, Agile is where it’s at. And while the rest of the world struggles with prioritizing product backlogs, velocity, burn down charts, requirements and role playing, we should be most concerned with your focus of leadership style. Perhaps this is one of the biggest challenges we face when it comes to “the cultural” change that is spoken of, but rarely taken seriously when agile practices are thrust upon us. Are your projects likely to fail because of your lack of leadership?

"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” John C. Maxwel

The traditional project management tasks and activities are now shifting from command and control to servant leadership approach. What does this mean for you as a project manager or business analyst working with stakeholders, developers and testers? It means that you must shift your ways to consider your role as coach of collaboration, as a coach of problem solving as a coach of conflict and above anything else as coach of your own self-awareness.
Not buying it yet? Ask yourself the following questions;

1. Are you attached to the outcomes of a project or solution, or are you committed to how the team works together?

2. Are you solving the problems or is the team solving the problem as a result of you asking them for their input?

3.Do you speak more than you listen?

4.Are you afraid to let the team learn from their mistakes (within reason of course!)

If you answered yes to the first half of any of the above questions, and you are in a contributing role that will be required in an agile environment, then this coaching session is for you.

Glenn R. Brûlé, will guide you through the six principles of servant leadership and success factors that you must know, commit to, and practice in order to be an effect Master at SCRUM. Without them your projects are likely to fail as a result of your lack leadership

Leadership: How to "Sparkle"
Robin Chinn, Robert Half International

robin chinn_coe_3Project Managers and Business Analysts often have all the responsibility with limited authority. The true art of leadership is how to form high performing teams, launch the product or service against the triple constraints, and have live bodies at the end who still respect each other.

This dynamic, interactive presentation addresses the "soft" skills of project management and business analysis and how to use them to become a more effective leader.

 The SPARKLE is a mnemonic device to help remember some key principles for effective project leadership that will be discussed in the presentation:

 Share your vision.   Positive attitude.  Always be fair.  Responsibility, reward, recognition.

Know and manage yourself.  Listen to and leverage your resources.  Effective conflict management.

 P.S. Did I mention that you can win prizes?
