PMs and BAs seem to be butting heads more and more as the project environment has become a territorial battleground for authority, responsibility, client interactions, scope decisions and deliverable expectations. Veterans of both of these positions remember the days when each had project autonomy as many organizations struggled to see the value of both roles on any given project team.
But increased role and skill definition has resulted in greater visibility of the need for both roles in today’s complex mid-to-large scale projects. Not only is success dependent on redefining the PM/BA relationship and communication methods, but the increased need for agile project teams is going to require the PMs and BAs to team up to proactively break down the project silos and create a strategic roadmap that will satisfy the client’s need far beyond textbook tactics of the past to produce holistic, dynamic solutions.
Learning Objectives:
- Create a common PM/BA language so you can “tag team” through project weaknesses
- Build successful, harmonious PM/BA teams based on experience, skill and personality types
- Leverage the BA for client expectations, scope management and getting that next contract
Skill Level: Intermediate
